UNDERSTANDING YOUR PROGNOSIS

Questions you may want to ask your oncology team.

What is my prognosis?

Is my disease curable?

If so, what is the rate of cure?

What is the expected course of progress / treatment?

Will my prognosis change over time?

Will you tell me if my prognosis has changed?

How does stage affect my prognosis?

Once this basic information is gathered, it is important for you to think about your own personal values for living, your goals for treatment, and which aspects of your daily life are most important to you. Share this information as well as your goals for communication with your doctor. You also may want to consider your spirituality and the role it plays in treating your disease.
